Introduction to High Protein Diet Plan
High-protein diets are very popular in the past because of the rapid weight loss for many people. Many of the most effective diet plan that incorporate this type of arrangement is the Atkins diet, the Zone Diet and the Sugar Busters. The basis behind these diets is the large amount of protein-rich foods you eat, while strictly limiting all carbohydrates in the diet.
These diet plans makes the body discreet ketones, which reduces appetite which sometimes can cause nausea. It also causes the body to quickly use up the stored fat in our body. The body will break down the proteins we intake so that sugar are used for energy.
This type of diet has led to controversy over the fact that the use of a high protein diet can help people lose weight safely or not. Critics say the elimination of carbohydrates causes people to eliminate foods that are rich in vitamins and plenty of soluble fiber in the diet; which can lead to other health problems in the longrun. Therefore, fiber and vitamin supplements should be taken accordingly when using this type of diet for a long time.
There have been studies on the possibilities of this type of diet. According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition “people that had a protein intake to 30% of their daily calories, and a fat intake of less than 20%, and had the remaining dietary intake made up of carbohydrates were not hungry, better satisfied, and lost weight quicker when combined with an exercise regime.”
The types of food consumed in this type of diet are meat, eggs, dairy products, including all the cheeses, yogurt, fish, poultry, nuts, beans and vegetables. Some things to consider when thinking about starting a high protein diet is to consume protein that are not high in fat. Fatty meat should be limited. These include organ meats, cheeses, seafood, meat and eggs. As mentioned above, the fat should be limited to less than 20% of the total dietary intake daily.
